Anatomy and Physiology – 10 Hours

Anatomy and Physiology – 10 Hours
Let's develop our understanding of how cues, qualities, and modification impact the primary movers in asanas. We will cover how meditation and breathwork affect the body's systems in the different age groups in this course. We do not have a final exam, but you will be required to completed the required reading, and include the anatomical benefits and contraindications in your class plans. We will cover the asanas in the Yoga Asana Handbook in our Yoga Anatomy coursework. Please find a copy of it to download below. All Yoga Anatomy lessons will be recorded and offered online.

Students will attend webinars to learn the accompanying text Developmental anatomy and physiology of children: a practical approach. These webinars will be held as a book club, and visited on each lab. Recordings will be posted in our online communication hub on Slack.

To Do: Create a Workshop with the attached worksheet to include elements of this topic, a class plan, intention, schedule, and meditation activity. Include a trauma-informed lesson recording of your workshop prior to petitioning for graduation. You may choose which age group you will focus your workshop on and practice it in your sangha labs with your peers in person online, or via file share.

This workshop will remain your intellectual property, but will be shared for learning purposes during our lab. You do not need to have your worksheet complete to attend, but bring the worksheet with you to work on for your sangha lab.

Take a moment to download the Yoga Asana Handbook now and bring it with you to labs. We will unpack these asanas how each posture impacts the body systems. Students will need to submit their workbooks, along with the Workshop Worksheet to complete their anatomy coursework.
