Cooking for Friends

Have a Pitta, Vata, and Kapha friend? Enjoy these easy recipes from Alum, Sarah Ford.

Vata Breakfast 

Food List:​ oats, salt, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, almond or coconut milk, roasted apples Steps: 

1. Pour oats in a bowl

2. Add salt, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric

3. Add almond or coconut milk

4. Microwave for 2 minutes or until desired temp (you can also boil milk first and then pour that onto the oats)

5. Add roasted apples (below)

6. Enjoy!


(To roast apples) 

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit

2. Core apples and place slices in a medium sized bowl

3. Squeeze lemon juice over the apple slices

4. Add cinnamon to apple slices

5. Mix apples, lemon juice, and cinnamon

6. Spread apple slices on baking sheet

7. Put baking sheet in the oven until apples are soft and tender (15-30min)




Pitta Lunch 

Food List:​ quinoa, lime juice, cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes, corn, avocados, salt Steps: 

1. Cook quinoa

2. Let quinoa cool

3. Add slices of cucumbers, bell peppers, tomatoes, avocados, and corn to quinoa

4. Add salt to quinoa

5. Add lime juice to quinoa

6. Enjoy!




Kapha Dinner 

Food List:​ black beans, chickpeas, ginger, cumin, cayenne 

Steps: 

1. Cook black beans and chickpeas

2. Add ginger, cumin, cayenne, and other warming spices

3. Enjoy!
